18 August 2023 ─ SEAMEO STEM-ED, Ministry of Education (MOE), Thailand, Ministry of Digital Affairs, and the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), Taiwan hosted the second teaching in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) webinar series
on the theme of “Maker and STEAM Education.”
At the event opening, MOE’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Atthaphon Sangkhawasee first voiced his gratification toward participants (educators, researchers, policymakers and businesses) for the determination to navigate the dynamic landscape of 21st-century education. He also urged participants to consider AI as a tool that elicits educational transformation ─ as he remarked, “Emerging technologies can shape the way we take in knowledge and learn.”
“There is an enormous potential to harness the power of AI and steam education to creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills among our students”, the Permanent Secretary underlined.
The Maker and STEAM Education webinar was organized as a stage to shine lights on hands-on, interdisciplinary learning experiences that help them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Throughout the event, experts in technology and education from Thailand and Taiwan shared their experiences and insights on best practices, approaches, and strategies for integrating Maker and STEAM education in the classroom.
The “Teaching in the Age of AI” is a webinar series initiated by SEAMEO STEM-ED, targeting different aspects of how we can utilize such technology ─ to leverage and bettering ourselves and society.
